According to Natalie DiBlasio, a writer for USA Today, "experts say states with the healthiest and longest living pets also have the highest neutering and spaying rates". Fixing your pet will also reduce aggressive behavior, and can eliminate unpleasant behavior in cats such as howling and spraying.
Thankfully, there is an alternative and cheaper option available through the Clark County Humane Society. The Society has been offering its FixaPet program for quite some time now, and as of 3-27-14 has performed nearly 7.5k successful surgeries! At $50 to spay or neuter a cat, $60 to neuter a dog, and $80 to spay a dog, it's a considerably cheaper and more affordable cost. The program also offers a considerable amount of different shots and vaccines at a reduced cost. Go here to learn more about the Clark County FixaPet program.
"We truly believe that by offering a low-cost spay/neuter program we will be able to help make a difference in the huge pet overpopulation problem. We know that by spaying/neutering cats and dogs we will be able to help people keep pets that they could otherwise not afford, and we will also be able to help improve the health of pets that get spayed/neutered."
