My purpose in this project is to inform those living below the poverty line in Clark County of cheap or free animal services provided in the area. My intended audience is people living in poverty with pets in Clark County, and I selected them as they are directly tied and affected by the issues of my topic. I chose this specific topic as it is relatable to my field of study and is something I am personally interested in. As a pre-vet student and someone from that area, I believe I created both a sense of credibility and identification with my audience. While I am not able to personally relate to the topic like my audience can, being in that field of study and a native to an area known for its small town communities worked in my favor as a rhetor.
I chose to use a website for the purpose of informing my audience. I selected an informative genre because the entire purpose of my project is to inform my intended audience of the different options that are available and to have them all listed in one place. I think if they were informed of their options easily and didn't have to search for them themselves they might take advantage of them if they are in need of it. The main genre of information I used in my project was the many, many interviews I had with different food pantries in (and outside) the area. I also incorporated the use of news articles and general statistics to help back my reasoning that fixing your pet is important; even if the cost can at times be high. After which I informed my audience of cheaper and more affordable alternatives.
